About Heavy Diesel Specialists Hunter Valley

Heavy Diesel Specialists commenced trading as AJW Earthmoving Services in 2003.

Since then, we’ve serviced thousands of vehicles and machines from V16 engine driven mining trucks and 600 tonne mining excavators to domestic four wheel drives… and everything in between.

AJW Earthmoving Services completed numerous maintenance contracts for several mine operators and mining contractors in open cut mines and a number of significant civil projects in the Hunter Valley and many of these clients remain valued clients of HDS.

Demand for our services from a broader range of customers led to a name change and new premises in the Rutherford industrial area in 2013. From this Maitland base, Heavy Diesel Specialists provide traditional diesel workshop services and coordinates our field service units for on-site and emergency after hours diesel repairs throughout the Hunter Valley, Greater Newcastle, Central Coast and Mid North Coast areas.

In more recent years, the business has increased its work in the transport sector and now boasts an extensive list of clients who operate trucks and light commercial vehicles.

When & Where We Work

Our Workshop

From our fully equipped workshop and yard centrally located in the Rutherford Industrial Area, we are able to work on a wide variety of machines.

Trading 5 days a week from 7 am, and the ability to work 24/7, this central location allows clients the flexibility to deliver their vehicles and machines at a time and location that is convenient for them.

Your Work Site

Andrew Woodward cut his teeth working on various mine sites and heavy industry facilities across the Hunter and is used to the challenges that come with field based work. He and the HDS team are inducted with all the main mining operators and contracting companies in the region.

HDS operates a small fleet of fully equipped, mine site compliant service vehicles that can get to you in any conditions at any time. We are available for one-off breakdown jobs, scheduled on-site maintenance or longer periods of contracted maintenance work at your workplace.

Break Down & Emergency

We have established an excellent reputation for our road-side breakdown service where we’ll attend your vehicle any time of the day or night, 365 days a year anywhere in the NSW Central Coast, Hunter Valley, New England, Port Stephens or Manning Valley.

We go wherever you need us, whenever you call. Whether your truck or machine happens to break down on the Hunter Expressway, M1 Motorway or a property in the hills behind Gloucester, we will come to you and make sure you are back up and running ASAP.

After Hours

Part of the ‘can do’ attitude at Heavy Diesel Specialists means we make ourselves available for after-hours work.

When you really can’t afford any down time or want to limit the time your truck is off the road or your machinery is not being fully utilised, HDS are the people to call.
